JG New York Trip 2026
5 March, 2026
What a trip. We planned to be in New York for a week for our AW26 showroom and to catch up with friends, but we ended up staying for ten days after getting snowed in during the storm. Luckily we had 173 pieces of knitwear with us, our entire collection, so at least we stayed warm.

After the storm
There was a travel ban during the height of the storm, and it was extraordinary to experience the city when the streets were completely empty of traffic. For a day, New York felt strangely peaceful.

MOMA drawing archive
Before the storm arrived, we had a private tour of the drawing archive at MoMA, which was incredibly inspiring. Our old friend David Moreno, who heads the archive, selected beautiful pieces for us to look through.
Every year we collaborate with the MoMA Design Store, so it was also great to see our buyers and begin discussing ideas for AW26.

After the storm and with our flight home delayed, we spent two full days at The Met. Having the time to move through the museum slowly was a real luxury; I think we may have seen almost everything. The museum was unusually quiet, and the Peruvian rooms particularly stood out for their bold use of colour and pattern.
We also visited the Isamu Noguchi Museum in Astoria, across the East River from Manhattan. The surrounding industrial buildings had brilliant colours and brick patterns; inspiration is everywhere.
